LOS ANGELES (May 3)-Connection Studios has hired Australian Lucas Pearce to direct its upcoming film Black Door. Mr. Pearce gained widespread attention this spring with his debut feature, The Farm, a terrifying ghost tale that received glowing reviews. Black Door, which will star Tamara Burns, is a psychological thriller set in a hospital. With a budget of $8 million, it represents a significant increase in scale for Mr. Pearce, as The Farm reportedly cost just $700,000 to make. According to the press release issued by Connection, Black Door will begin shooting in November and is scheduled to arrive in theaters in October of next year.
